Chance Upon the Silk-Like Waterfall of Oslob: Tumalog Falls!

Oslob is a naturally gifted municipality in Cebu. Located here are grand beaches and waterfalls such as Kawasan, but what also rests here is the gentle Tumalog Falls – a location not yet commercialized by tourism but is a hidden paradise you should see for yourself.

Tumalog is best visited during the dry months of January to June, as its beauty is seasonal. It has a silky and serene look during the dry months, holding a candle against all the other beautiful falls in the country. To see it in its full splendor, locals suggest you visit during the first two weeks of the rainy season so it has enough water to become a majestic waterfall.

What makes this fall stand out from all the other waterfalls in Oslob is its size that stands 80-100 meters in height. As the water drops above, it hits many rock formations and boulders just before going on the natural pool. Giving an appearance of multiple cascades that is just breathtaking.

When you’re in Oslob, don’t pass up the chance to visit the Tumalog Falls.

Take a Detour and Head to Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary!

Olango Island is home to an important wildlife reserve located just 20 minutes away from Mactan, Cebu. It is a 1030 hectare sanctuary comprising sand flats and mangroves that becomes home to the largest group of migratory birds counting to 48 species. Some of the notable birds that visit this sanctuary are the rare Chinese egret and the Asiatic dowitcher, among many others. To witness the migration, it is best to visit during the peak months of October to November for the East Asian-Australasian migration and February to March for the northward migration.

Visiting requires a little bit of planning ahead of time, as it is best for you to time it on a low tide. This is when birds occupy the sand flats in big groups to eat their fill on worms, snails, and fishes. When it is not the migration season, tourists can enjoy the mangroves and even kayak across the waters.
